Cel mai inalt punct de pe suprafata continentului african il reprezinta masivul muntos Kilimandjaro. Acesta se afla in Tanzania si are o inaltime de 5.963 m. Muntele este acoperit cu paduri pana la altitudinea de 1.000 m, apoi cu pasuni alpine. Spre varf, la peste 5.000 m altitudine, este acoperit de zapezi aproape permanente, pe cand, la poale, domneste verdeata in toate anotimpurile.
